smart body mod PRIOR to camperizing

smart body mod PRIOR to camperizing

Postby SoFar,EH [OP] » January 12th 2021, 3:38am

Had it suggested to me to cut an access port in the floor for the purpose of easier access & servicing of the fuel pump. If the dropping of the gas tank, etc... is quite involved & other things usually get broken or compromised (as a wrench'r told me), this sounds like something that woulda been nice from the General to have dun. Has anyone done this? Could it be explained in full w/location measurements for cutting, tips, what fab needs to happen to retain the cut out as the access, etc...? :auto-gmcredsmiley:

Lots here on that mod. Go to google type in fuel pump door cut Astro then several Astro safari topics will appear click on them and you will find in the Astro site what you seek. Hint ( cargo crawler ) I don’t know how to copy and paste or I would send you the link. Also on the top right of the home page you can search. This search finds words so it is much more involved

It has been done, I personally find it easy enough to drop the tank.

Quite a few can be found with search.

Thx, guys. As I seek to make things "as easy as possible" to enjoy a vehicle instead of curse it, this seemed like a smart thang to do B4 proceeding to insulate & "floor" the rig for some camperizin treatments. As I have very limited access to this or any internet things, I'm tryin to maximize what I can here B4 I shot it down & head home, some 2 + hrs away. Not sure when my next opportunity will be to chek for replies & suggestions. :geek:
