Change a Gen2 Astro Grill for a Gen2 Safari grill

Postby AstroVanDan [OP] » August 20th 2017, 6:16pm

Has anyone changed a Astro van gen2 (2000) for a gen2 Safari grill? If so is just a bolt on with no mods? I would like to have the custom Safari grill. Let me know you experiences. Thanks, Dan

I completed this mod earlier this summer. I bought a new grille from rockauto.com along with turn signal housings and the filler panels that go below the turn signals. Pretty straight forward mod.

So far, I have had all three styles now. I must say, I prefer the look of the GMC the most. The most durable is the cargo sealed beam. The grille on that style has a more flexible plastic construction and takes painting well.

The run signal lens on the safari composite grille is the only thing you have to watch out for. They are not the same as the sealed beam or Astro composite grille.

Hey Dan, the sealed beam setup is a direct swap. You didn't mention if your was composite or sealed beam.
Snow's pic is the composite, mine are the sealed beam, the whole nose of my new to me '02 was damaged so I cleaned up what I had on a junk '97 and bolted it on.
