Rocker panel question

Postby Vagabond_Keith [OP] » June 2nd 2018, 2:14am

What is this called? I'd like to replace my sidesteps with it.

And some part diagrams for you to reference
MOLDINGS PART 1 (RH BODY SIDE LOWER & RR DOOR LOWER)
You will need Part #'s 9 & 11 (20, & 21 are the panels for the doors)
https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.com/ ... gory=19392
MOLDINGS PART 2 (LH BODY SIDE LOWER)
You will need Part #'s 4 & 7 (2 is the panel for the door)
https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.com/ ... gory=19392

You will find it much easier to locate these parts at a U-Pull/ Salvage yard
You can use 3M VHB 5952 double side foam molding tape instead the metal retainer strips to hold the body edge in place.

If you are removing OEM running boards let me know. I need the #5 brackets in the following diagram.

I have the "Santa Fe" conversion. The passenger side is pretty much toast and the drivers side has a ton of the clear coat peeling. I can take a pic.

Santa fe would have used the fiberglass aftermarket running boards. They would not have used the same mounting brackets as the OEM running boards.

As you will be adding the cladding to a van that did not come with it originally,
You will need to get all the plastic retainer strips also.
You can use a break away utility knife to cut the foam tape holding the panels and retainers to the body.
There will be push in plastic retainers along the bottom of the rockers and rear quarters and screws in the wheel wells.
The rear bumper cover will need to be removed to get access to the screws that hold the rear corner pieces.
Use 3M VHB double side tape 5952 to attach the cladding to your van.

If you do have all other brackets mounted right you dont realy need the # 5 brackets , those running boards are good for ww3 .
