Seeking pop top (T top style) 2004 Astrovan

Postby HappyHappyJoyJoy [OP] » April 30th 2019, 3:38am

I've called around to professionals to install pop top on an Astrovan. Nobody can do it as they won't bother with the mold for less than $15K as a custom project. Any suggestions on how I find a pop top- T-top style? Getting to the point I'm willing to settle for a V-top. But not before I figure out a way to fabricate a top myself. Any comments/guidance is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

The cheapest way is to get a used high top from a conversion van. Of course getting someone to make the rest can get expensive, but not as expensive as doing a custom mold which is a TON of work. DIY is also an option as far as the lift/fabric. Check out Gavio's postings.

This link gives you some places to call around to, and ideas for doing your own. http://zenseeker.net/AdventureVans/Adve ... opTops.htm

Sportsmobile has one for the Metris, about the same size as an Astro, maybe it could be massaged to fit. https://sportsmobile.com/mercedes-metris/

This thread may help:

Also, you'll find that even makers of new high tops are very rare, but there is one in Long Beach, CA: http://fiberine.com/GVMR/Mini_Van_Tops.html#26

There is a 93 with a pop out sunroof in a junkyard north of seattle… not sure if that's near where you are.

I don't think they are looking for a sunroof.
