Need part name and/or part # for headlamp housing "nut"

Need part name and/or part # for headlamp housing "nut"

Postby SlowRider [OP] » August 16th 2020, 3:32am

Just switched (upgraded??? :D ) from the passenger headlights to the cargo style 5x7 when I accidentally pulled and painted the wrong Gen 2 grille from the salvage yard. I went back and grabbed a set of 5x7 headlights with mounting hardware (bracket, retaining ring, screws, spring) but forgot to pull the plastic nuts that are used to hold the bracket to the chassis from one of the sides. (It was HOT and the mosquitoes were swarming so I rushed it!)

So for the gen 2 cargo style headlights what is that plastic nut called and is there a part # available? I have two of the four so have just put one on each side and between that and some duct tape the headlights are staying put BUT I've got LED headlights coming soon and would rather raid fleabay than drive 30min to the pick n pull for two tiny plastic pieces. Can't find anything on rockauto, or other sites like gmpartsdirectonline.

Thanks y'all.

P.S. Pics of the upgrades comin soon.

The help section of your LAPS should have them if they are what I'm thinking of. It's just a square hole? (I'd have to pull mine to take a look) there are plastic nuts designed to spread in the square hole when you run a screw through it.

something like these?

take one of the nuts you currently have and go to any LAPS and they should be able to match it.

Excellent info that gives me a place to start, thanks! The holes are more rectangle than square but I'll see if Autozone has something that will work for both the hole size and the bolt specs.

bring a screw and one of your existing "nuts" and they should be able to fix you up.
