Door Handle Replacement Thank You!

Door Handle Replacement Thank You!

Postby PJorgen [OP] » July 23rd 2012, 12:57am

Had to replace the passenger door handle the other day. Reviewed all the posts here, gathered my tools, girded my loins and dove in.

It is a ***** and half getting to those nuts, and I have very small hands. Tried to do it the conventional way with no luck, so drilled a 1" hole to access the upper mounting bolt, just like the existing one to access the lower bolt. Great idea - made the job 100x easier. Don't recall who suggested that but thanks!

I got the nut on. It was very very hard. I pinched it between my fingers and rotated at my shoulder. If I remember I pulled the handle out so just one or two threads protruded the inside of the door.
Yeah, just drill a hole

My drivers side is almost due. half of it is broke, waiting for it to snap the rest of the way before I replace it. The best way is to remove the latch, but that also means tinkering with the rods too.

So my new door handle works great, but I must have somehow disconnected the looking mechanism as now the key will no longer unlock the door. Power lock still works so I'm gonna leave it as-is!
