Hasp Lock for Rear and Sliding Door

Hasp Lock for Rear and Sliding Door

Postby emeraldspread [OP] » April 30th 2013, 8:32pm

Anyone know of a brand of one of those hockey puck and hasp locks that works with a 2003 Astro? Looking for one for the rear and one for the sliding door. A company called taylor security has them, I'm just not sure which one would work:

Common hardware like that should not be a big problem. I should think that you would want to get a long, rather than short one.

You do know you will have to dig into the insides of the doors and jamb to nut and bolt the hasps.

I don't know what Taylor charges for those locks but you can also find them in Home Depot. They are originally designed for wooden tool sheds with double swing "barn" doors. I just think that when someone figured out that one of those locks looked cleaner and more secure than a padlock, the trend caught on.

As a side note, I always thought those locks looked ugly and I couldn't help but to wonder what would happen in an emergency if someone was in the cargo area and needed to get out.

Then I realized that I would only have to put the locks on before parking my van for the night.

Hey Ted,

You've got a point there, but I have seen padlocks on some (not many) trucks around here. Mostly older ones, now that I

think about it, like the OEM locking hardware quit working, and the owner figured it was easier to...

Any way, for a real emergency ? That is why I opt to carry a spare set of keys under the rear bumper. It saves a whole lot of headaches

from when I had to use my spare brick ! (eh, go figure)
