early vs late Subframe interchangeability ?

Hi There.
I am wondering if a subframe from a 95 and up will directly bolt to the body of a 94 and older (87) van. Are the six mounting points in the same places? No? What years are different and how? Anybody know?

Also, do the 2wd and AWD frames swap over the same? I think they must eh?

I want to put an AWD frame under my 5 speed 87 Shorty.
But first I want to install the front diff, WC T5 and NP231 transfer case from a 93 S10/Blazer, if I can find one...
I already have a 95 AWD with new shorter better torsion bars but a tired old Vin W. If the sub-frames will just swap, I will!!

I can only guess but I doubt they changed the mounting points however there could be other minor alterations. sounds like a really cool project! I was just asking if they made AWDs w/manual trans. and apparantly the didnt. the early short models are the coolest ones too. good luck with it. keep us posted!

It is my understanding that the main difference lies in the front frame horns.

It may be tough to line up your bumper, grille, etc.

Ya, I think your right, the very front of the frame where the bumper mounts up is probably a bit different from what I can see. If thats the only thing, no worries because a 4wd will need a HD bumper anyways!
