Sliding door latch

Sliding door latch

Postby JimmyD-55 [OP] » September 1st 2013, 10:30pm

Two questions; 1, is the door latch for the sliding door the same as the p/s entry door? I have looked and cannot find any replacement latches on-line for the sliding door. B, the door latch is stuck in the first lock position and will not release or close all the way. I have the door being held closed with a ratchet strap for now. Does anybody know a simple trick for releasing the latch?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine wasnt simple. I had to take the door panel off. Reach in there with the right torx socket and rachet and unscrew the pin.
First time I used a pick and screwdriver untill I accidentally moved everything just right and it unlatched. I thought it was all good again till it wouldn't open at all. Hence the second, mentioned first method.

To answer your question in a nutshell...NO, it's not the same. The sliding door hardware is a horse of

it's own color. Propriatory only to itself.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the information. I guess I'll be heading to the local pick-a-part for a latch and doing some touch-tech'ing to get my door open. :handgestures-fingerscrossed:
