Wind noise - leaky door.

Wind noise - leaky door.

Postby MrBob [OP] » November 5th 2013, 8:19am

I had a super annoying wind whistle in the front door next to my head. At 65 mph, it about drove me nuts.
One day I lowered the window and began bending the top half of the door inward, toward the body of the van. Nothing dramatic, but I put my knee on the inside of the door and gave a few tugs.
The result, noise gone, and a fix that took 2 minutes and cost nothing.

I just had to do the opposite. The door started squeaking in that some spot. Loud, high pitched squeaking. Turns out the door was rubbing on the metal of the door jam, it was polished shiny. My van has an endless supply of squeaks and rattles, as soon as I fix one another reveals itself...

Did you by any chance check your hinges? Try lifting up on the door while it is open. If it moves the hinge pins may need attention.

Happens on trucks a lot, I am not sure why our vans would be immune.

Good luck,
