It cost around $1000 plus shipping, very very pricey

In my truck with a camper without windows I used to have to make a series of turns just to avoid a couple such intersections!

sadglad wrote:There are two types of sliding doors. maximus7001 says here https://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=53466#p463081 that the change happened mid year 1997. The main difference is the location of the latch. Also, the earlier version had the bracket welded to the door. The later version is a bolt on. I bought a 1997 junkyard door for my 2002 and realized after that it is not a bolt on swap. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that it's not straightforward. I have not gotten around to it. My idea is to somehow transplant an old style latch post onto my newer van with some kind of baking plate to hold the post solid. Lucky I got mine on half price day at the pick and pull.
Somewhere in this site is information about the remove and replace procedure for the welded bracket version. Standard procedure was to drill out the welds and bolt on the new door with a backing plate from a dealer. Likely that plate is no longer available.
I also seem to remember there is some difference in the upper bracket but I can't remember details.

My cargo van came from the factory with no window on the slider door. The van went to a upfitter (Adrian Steel) who installed a bulkhead and window. They cut a hole in the door and installed a window. Quite a hack job too. It is smaller than the factory window. Looks kind of lame.
