Has anyone successfully fitted an airdam on the front?

Has anyone successfully fitted an airdam on the front?

Postby bunce1260 [OP] » September 5th 2015, 4:51am

For long roadtrips an airdam would be nice for these lifted vans and possibly some sort of under belly pan.
I've seen a lot of kids put garden edging on the bottom edge of their front bumper of various cars.

Does anyone have anything better to show me what can be done?

I made this myself for mine. Every time I saw an entire ABS plastic bumper on the side of the road I thought how easily it could be cut into an air dam. So finally did it.

For free its great. Gonna put led COB lights on it soon.

My airdam I bought from pick n pull for 12 bucks, I had to do some repair work to fix cracks the lights are from a 90's era ford truck.I plan on covering the lenses with yellow film to get a fog light effect.

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if either of you experienced a gain in MPGs after doing this or if it's just an aesthetic modification?

Wow, it seems that your van project is much more involved than mine. It looks awesome though! What did you get that airdam off of?

another Astro, I ended up tossing it and using a stock one cause I lowered my van 2 inches in the front and the air damn in the picture was damaged and I could not fix it due to the material it was made of.

I took an air dam off a Saturn and since it wasn’t real wide I cut it in two and then tapered the ends toward the center point where I had cut it. I also didn’t want it hanging too low in the center.
I have a stainless steel skid plate from the front axle beam back beyond the oil pan. I have no idea if the two have helped my mpg but can’t hurt.

Mine with factory air damn from a 1st gen Astro in the local pick n pull yard. Paid 20.00 painted it and added fog lights.
I added the most recent picture too. But the hood in second picture is gone, It was an experiment for me and I did not like it after. I am working on a new hood with cowl induction to feed the 350.
