I have seen the rag tops at lowrider shows, but they were only on trucks. I think it would be cool as hell to have. If you do it, you have to take lots of pics. It gets too cold and they use too much salt in the winters where im at, so im looking in to sun roof(s).
Looking to get my first Astro

I would think the easiest way to do this would be to buy a conversion van with a high top on it and remove the high top. Then use the cutout already there using sliding rails on each side for the rag top to slide on.

Is there any concern on the structural changes of the roof when doing this? I've also been thinking on this mod but am wondering :confused1: what the cons are.
I love the VW Buses from the early days when they came out with the rag tops and would love to install one on my astro. Anybody heard or knows any info on this mod?
"Joshsheetz", if you don't mind me asking, how much does one of these tops end up costing? I can install.

Streetbeatcustoms.com that is the place to get one.$795.00.Thay sell vinyl and canvas. You want the canvas.I put 35"x40" in my 1966 buick skylark when i lived in florida. They are fun but they do have some flaws. You will have to run a sunroof deflector because when it's open you will get a booming noise from the wind. The top is open or closed their is no half open. If you drive with the windows down and the top closed it will flap. Those are the flaws.Yea somethings sucked but i loved it too.Their have been alot of people over the years that have put these in astro/safari's,blazers and everthing else. It's safe, so if you want it order it up and get out the jigsaw.Hope this helps and DO WORK!!!!! :rocker:
