Since I'm elbows deep in wiring and after doing some reading on the forum, I rigged up this little sucker today for selectable automatic headlights:

I put an on/on switch inline with the white wire and ran the remaining pole via a 2k Ohm resistor over to the grey wire.
It seems to work but requires cycling in and out of gear to take. I was going to mount the switch somewhere more accessible, but then​ thought... How often am i going to really switch it?
But it's nice to have the option.

Alright, so back from vacation and getting back at it...

I installed the rear cam in the usual location and with the light that is on that plus the 2 clearance lights on the mirrors, the back up process looks like more of an event.

The courtesy lights came out okay after some additional aligning, but I'm thinking of finding some angled spacers to kick them out wider a bit. They look better with the mirrors extended, but I'm already wide enough.

The display of the headunit made my useless cupholders even more so.
So I drilled out the very bottom and made better use of it:

I made a shorter low profile power cable to run up and behind the display into the factory 12v plug. Now it has 2 12v connectors and 2 USB ports. 1 of them is wrapped up into the wireless charger pad that I velcro'd to the original mount. The bottom of the mount stuck down past where the original cup holder sat (thats why I drilled it) and just barely touches the drawer as it moves past:

Other than that I got my rear view mirror uglyfied again:

And bought this little fridge/heater with cup holders:

That solves most of my daily annoyances with the interior... for now.

I might have to replace my console with that one, but I have a lot of work into my current solution. I'm running the coveted Lincoln Navigator center console. I disassembled the lid, (and a QI charger I got for cheap), then mounted the guts inside the console lid and ran a USB cable out and up to the charge port. Now, to charge my phone, I clip it onto the lid and BAMM charge-o-rama.

So Wimp, yes, your solution sounds super clean, I'd like to see it some day as my center console is far from perfect... more of a WIP. But I wanted my phone in front of me so that I could use it while driving (it actually sits right in front of the arm rest)... I know, I know... but sometimes those Amazon deals don't last all day!

1Low, The mount I linked has a nice little lip that expands against the lower "rib/lip" of the original cup holder, so all I did was hole saw the very bottom layer of the panel. That way that bottom lip keeps the mount at the right height and also adds to the tightening surface.

See what I mean? Now that I scribbled all over it?

Ya, they also make some with a longer neck for about $30 and ones without the charging system that aren't quite as deep (so no drilling).

I'm glad to see that cutting the bottom of the cup holder does work. I've thought about doing it but haven't attempted it yet. I do have a spare dog house So I might try it, I need a longer phone mount so I might try the one you linked. Thanks!

Ohhh yeah, I have a full-time 7" tablet for navigating and monitoring the vitals (via Torque app). I'm looking to fab up a dash-top mounting hood eventually... waaay down the road, but for now it works.

OK I can't get that time back, I went thru this entire thread no prior pics of the rear backup lights. You most have posted that in a Different thread, I'll go check your Gallery. Pffft

I mostly have been uploading images straight into posts and haven't been using the gallery.

All I have are the aftermarket taillights, the side mirror clearance lights and the light from the backup camera.

OH! Well that's Sort of Cool! My BU Cam has no lights, which BU Cam do you have? And Damn those Mirrors are Cool! Do they have a Bottle opener too?

It still isn't as wide angle as I'd like, but it works.
Do you get a lot of glare on your video feed?
I was thinking that perhaps that location (being out in direct sunlight) may be the cause, but then again, the camera was pretty cheap.

I am using the Mirror-Monitor and that's get's a lot of glare but not the cam. I can't get the right angle(needs to be pointing a little more down) and yes I wish it was more wide angle too.
