Yeah, well, you know what I mean...

I get it, you want a G80 locker(they put the limited slip in the cars, which can lead to some confusion) and you want to change your gear ratio. Both can be done at the same time but they are indeed separate.

But if you truly want a limited slip, there are other options out there. There are other options for lockers as well. Though for most driving I would say the G80 locker is just fine.

You definitely will notice a difference with the gear change as well, esp if you have changed your tire size.

I'd be more interested in the ratio than the locker. I had assumed the G80 was a package deal with 3.73 & the locker. Guess I was wrong...

Neither of those are really a priority at the moment.

Here are some images i grabbed the other day. Excuse the questionable quality...

Here is the interior - I made these seat cushions and covered them in a green canvas.

And finally -

Here is how it looks most of the time. We use a nylon blanket to keep the dog hair from sticking to the seat covers and a small rug to keep the floors somewhat clean. But you know, it's a van. It's always dirty.

WOW, the interior looks great. Love the ceiling layout (will have to look at that some more), but the functional seat and side storage are nice to have (keeps stuff hidden when not in use). Great job. It looks really nice and inviting in there. :D

Niiiiice - very similar to what I want to do, except I plan to cover up the driver's rearmost window with a cabinet.

Thanks guys.

I've been kicking around the idea of a full height cabinet on the driver side, covering the window. Very similar to the Westfalia vans. That bit of extra storage would really go a long way.

In other news -

I'm chasing a loss of power issue. No codes are being thrown and no sputtering of any kind. The van just feels like it is dragging it's feet.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

What a nifty interior project with an excellent presentation. Portland, eh? If you ever travel down 101, there's a parking spot and hot shower available in Reedsport.

I wonder if 'Hanger Iron' strapping is still avail.

Thought maybe this fix might help temporarily till, like me you can get a permanent better looking replacement. In our case a visit to our friendly neighborhood JY.

And on a side note... aren't the elec. seat controls usually on the outside of the seat ?

First thing this makes me think of is a partially clogged cat. Usually there is an underlying issue though.

Yep, beat me to it.

Easy test: pull one or both upstream oxygen sensors. Take a short drive (it'll be loud, so don't go far). If you have your power back, your cat is at least partially clogged. If nothing changes, time to look elsewhere, like at spark or fuel.

If your cat is clogged, you need to do a tuneup. Cats are killed, they don't die on their own. Also get a can of MAF cleaner, pull the MAF and hose it down but good. Be really careful with the teeny little wires; they're fragile and important, so don't use a brush or anything.

Nice rig! I'm also in Portland and have nearly an identical layout interior wise. I had a similar issue a while back and my cats were completely nuked, drove around with the O2 sensors pulled and it narrowed down the problem. Unfortunately for me I had more sever issues with my engine so I'm in the midst of a rebuild. Good luck with the troubleshooting!

Interesting - I hadn't thought of the cat. I'll start again with that. The cat was rattling a bit, but has stopped.

I pulled and cleaned the EGR, replaced the MAP (it came out in pieces), cleaned the PCV, checked the distributor drive gear.

The plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil were all changed about 20-25,000 miles ago.

SoccerMom4x4 - What did you end up finding wrong with your engine that lead to a rebuild?

If it's clogged enough to affect performance, you should be able to tell with your palm at the tailpipe, it won't feel just right and will be kinda hotter than expected.
costman13 wrote:The cat was rattling a bit, but has stopped.
meaning...it's possible a chunk made it down the 3" pipe and lodged elsewhere. Smack the muffler around a bit, if there's anything in there, you'll know it.
