The air dam is off the donor Eurovan. Bonded on with VHB tape

Very cool, just noticed this pic - did the VW roof come with this cutout above the front seats and you just did some work with the Astro headliner to match it?

Ok, looking at more pics it looks like the curved front part of the hole is the front part of the VW roof, and the B pillar brace is the flat back end of the opening - is that right? Looks very cool.

When you have a chance, could you do some detail pics of the latches holding the top on? I've never been in a Eurovan, and am wondering how many latches there are to hold it on and how beefy they are.

Correct, I left the B-pillar cross-brace and the curved section and top of that area is all Eurovan

There is one latch and the handle underneath (that you can see in the pic) to release. then a safety latch

Im not sure if you could call it beefy, but it doesnt really have that much force on it.

New member and first post here. 2005 AWD (soon to be 4x4) Astro w/200k miles and lifted 4"

I just started this new project after pulling the poptop assembly and cutting the roof off a VW Eurovan. Plan is to keep all Astro crossmembers at the pillar locations, and remove the one that is midway across the sliding door). I will be riveting (solid steel aircraft rivets) and bonding (high modulus windscreen adhesive) the Eurovan roof section in.

How did you remove the pop top from the Eurovan. I'm looking at one today and want to understand the process, amount of work/time it will take.

Cutting the roof off a Eurovan is not easy. I used an angle grinder and about 20 cutoff disks. A big powerful sawzall might have been better suited due to the tri layers of steel in some areas
