Astro 95 4x4 by Luma

Postby LumaWJLumaWJ is online! [OP] » March 29th 2021, 3:12pm

Hello every one!
I am here quite a long time, but have had nothing to post. I own 1995 Astro Safari 1995 already 3 years, but I did not have time to start working on it. Actualy I have had fear to start working on it. It was quite cheap as it was after fire near HVAC. I do not have any picture of inside, but I think it is not need it. Some plastic stuff disapeared. Headliner is gone and a LOT of wires were gone.
With my friend we said, that we have to start working on it finaly! During Christmas we put a meters of the new wiring and finaly before end of the year she was running!!! We did not believe it

3 month later, we are working on few projects:
- insulating inside with K-flex 20mm foam
- find out few lost wires and get going doom lights
- get going the wireles door opening ( i do not know, where is a box)
- make headliner from scratch
- working on the lift (3+1") with moving frame forward 15mm by using tubes instead of pucks
- changing BW4472 to Chevy NP233C manual shift (Jeep KJ lever)
- making hidden plate for the winch
- making hidden rear hitch

so many plans and everything need to be finished before summer

I like the blue color. I have a soft spot for 95's too. I've been thinking about getting rid of my 04 awd and looking for a 95 awd.

Where are you at in the Czech Republic? I had the opportunity to visit Prague and drive through some of the country side. I would love to visit again.

Yesterday arrived frame from the sanding, so I painted it immediatelly. Today I checked allbthe possible thin parts and holes and it is done by now. The most probelamtic parts were bumper bracket, front part arround steering box, holes ubder stabilizator brackets. And that about it. Tomorrow will weld in tubes forn the 3" lift.

Let me know, "I have Detailed Files" and post Good Pics if you like. None of that upside dn/sideways stuff...
But there are 3 different page sets:
- Dome Lamps w/o Aux. Lighting Pkg.
- Dome/Courtesy Lamps with Aux. Lighting Pkg. ( RPO - TR9 ) Also has the Int. Roof Console ( RPO - DK6 )
- Stepwell Lamps which also shows the TR9 Dome Lamps.

Somehow missed your build and frame / suspension / interior work.

I see that big bracket for the Console - probably not using it.

FSM arrived on thursday so had a lot reading done in evening. I still should hook up wirelles key box to something
Give me a day or so and I will ask more specific questions...
Today will do brackets for the lift, hopefully will end nice and tidy!

Today have been loong day. I was ready for the lift, lot of measurementds were done and a lot of welding also done. I think all went well.
Posts were welded in 15mm back from both sides and cleaned prepered for painting.
All ready for 3+1" lift and will get a bit more room for tires.

Thank you!
Today I took day off from welding, but there need to be done more modifications to the frame...
I took some serious work done on the wiring  As you do not know, I bought car with burned passanger side of the dash and half of the wiring was gone under dash. So I am as Sherlock Holmes fondong wires, putting zhem together and not always I am succesfull. BUT toda I think I finished. I only need to wire two front speakers and two wores for RL speakers. The rest is working.
Only one srupid question, I do have on kies wireless remote control from factory, but I do not see any conectors anywhere and no box(pls how does it look like and where it is located?
If someone has extra fog light switch and also dome light switch for reasonable price let me know. We do not have JY here so only buying on ebay and there is zero possibilities...

Done! It was a bit of hasle, took the wiring harness appart again, and found all the main wires for radio and for the dome override switch. Fornthis one I had to make new white wire to get running. All works well! I need to find some speakers for dash, does any one knows size? And also radio with it!
