So I thought I'd get the motivation to finally put the overhead console in the 97. My van has the temp sensor in the grille area and the connectors that go to the fusebox, but I can't for the life of me (without completely removing the headliner) find the second connector for the overhead console. Is it buried up in a crossmember in the ceiling or do i have to take the entire front part of the headliner down to find it?

If your van does not have the console you will have to take headliner down to put a mount in and cut a hole in headliner for the console or get a headliner that has the hole cut from salvage yard , you may or may not have the wiring some do some do not , mine did not , I had to put in my own wiring , you can look under the carpet down in the foot well on drivers side if it is there and not hidden to deeply you may see it , a gray connector that plugs into the box beside the fuse box , either way the headliner has to come down, or you may tear it up trying to work under it
If you have a cargo van it is very unlikely to have the overhead console harness , the air temp socket up front is part of the horn circuit and nearly all vans have it ,

Ok, that's what I was afraid of... I knew I was gonna have to cut a hole in the headliner but I wasn't sure if I could get away with fishing the wire out and cutting it while it was still in the van. I may save this for an all day project.

it is ok to take the headliner out and drive it , nothing there that has to be there to drive it , so if you feel like taking the headliner out on one day and do the project a little at a time it won't interfere with driving it .

yeah, I thought about that if it came down to it, but I drove the old van without a headliner for the longest time.. talk about annoying.. lol I'll have to tear into it a little more and see what I can find.
