Replaced carpet

Replaced carpet

Postby dantheman [OP] » August 29th 2016, 3:37am

Lifted the carpet in the rear the other day to find the padding soaked up to the middle row. Pretty much tracked the leak down to a stopped up rear a/c drain and a leaky gasket in the rear window (driver side).
Picked up some carpet for $40 at a local warehouse and padding at Lowes for $30 and she feels like a new van again.

Looks good.
If you want to add a finishing touch to it.
The 1st gen vans had removable trim pieces around the cutouts for the seat mounting holes.

Thanks!!
I'll have to shoot some more pics when I get back from Denver. I laid it all the way to the firewall. I basically kept the old carpet and used it almost like a stencil to cut the new carpet.
It's commercial grade carpet so it's very easy to vacuum and clean up.

That looks really good.

I just took out my carpet and padding since it was soaking wet and growing mold. I'm using mine to haul pottery to art fairs so I just installed those rubber squares in the floor. I had to take out the plastic trim that fits around the places where the seats instal. They are tan so they should look good with your van. You can have them for a couple buck for the postage.

I've got that same leak around the rear driver's side glass. I haven't fixed it yet. Did you just put some silicone around the inside of the glass?

I actually pulled the glass and the gasket. I put a bead of silicone under the gasket, then put it back in place. I also ran a bead of silicone along the outside of the gasket before putting the window back in place.
