Driver door wont open manually

Driver door wont open manually

Postby Pierrot from Chile [OP] » July 3rd 2018, 10:50pm

New riddle for me : i cant open or close my driver door with my key nor pushing the lock manually. Only with central command.

First day since i got my car it rained a lot. I left my car unattended but doesnt look forced.

I'm very concerned because since now my passenger door and hood locks never worked, so now my only door which i can go through is my rear door...

But works from the electrical switch?

Probably the door lock actuator giving up the ghost

or the linkage from the key to the locking mechanism is binding on something.

seems more like a mechanical linkage issue to me. or probably just a clip that holds one of the rods.

I would take a look inside both and see if those linkages are connected properly and moving freely. (passenger and drivers) it could be why you can't operate the lock on the passenger side too.

Not hard, just takes patience and a thin screwdriver. Work your way around the panel carefully to pop the holders without pulling hard on the actual internal panel.

I used lithium grease (white grease) because it rarely gets gummy or hard. even in freezing conditions. Clean up all the connections with a little bit of alcohol or de-greaser, then lube. hinges and lock mechanisms I used triflow (teflon spray) what ever you do, do NOT use wd40.. that stuff will dry and harden.

Any bicycle shop and automotive shop will have white grease. Sometimes called assembly grease for people that do machine work/engine building. Triflow is usually avail at home improvement stores and lock smiths.

Just to give you some ideas where to look.
