What is with the disco lights in the higher top conversion Astro vans. Can these convert to a reading light or some other use?

Yes you can, just follow the wiring back to the "Disco Box" and by-pass it.:)

Just pay attention to the current draw & wire gauge so as not to overload it if you install newer lighting. I doubt those little lights drew very much power.

I think he's talking about the little white accent lights along the windows in the conversion vans. Mine has 'em.

Or the rope lights...anything the conversion co's did. I did even see a disco ball in a conversion Astro once - straight from the conversion co!

You know, that's about the ONLY thing my van was missing when I got it! Rear seats were out and a blanket screwed down over foam padding, glow in the dark stars and planet stickers stuck all over the place, black lights, strobe lights... you get the picture. Boom chicka boom BOWWWWNN chicka bowwoww!!!

(Hazmat suits and a pressure washer!)

Hey! Gas was $4.00+ per gallon, and I was driving a rustbucket F150 with 2 gas tanks! The guy wanted to haul scrap metal, and I wanted out of that tank. Win win!
