Cruise Control quit working

Cruise Control quit working

Postby castle_Rock [OP] » August 19th 2009, 2:49pm

I only removed the dash instrument trying to get access to the wiring to the ac/heat control, but for some reason, the cruise control no longer works, i didn't mess with the wiring, steering column or any part. Now I have 2 things that quit working. Starting to get to me.

I checked the fuse box under the dash, but didn't see a fuse, would it be labeled something else?

rarely are posts ignored. its usually that if the situation has not come up to an individual then they do not post back. thats why at this response there are 44 views and only 4 responses. 75% of them are you replying to your own question. this is a catch 22 here. there are some that would feel the way you do that there is an ignoring situation. this is hardly the case. in fact i bet its either a lack of experience by others in this area or more likely because of the inexperience they do not just shoot from the hip to sound smarter than experience permits. this is why almost all the posts about any topic aside from humor or conversation (these based mostly on opinion) has merit in all responses. i would personally rather not have to chase down others ideas of potential problems and waste my time as opposed to wait for one correct diagnosis. this is my own opinion and if others feel similar i bet they can chime in as well.

i am sorry to not be able to help at all in this
i do know that older cruise works off vacuum as well as electronics. recheck the lines behind the ac control and make sure there is no vacuum leak. also if the hose came off the brake pedal it would think the brakes are on and cancel the cruise. this in fact is only if the van has the old style.
Don't explain it poorly 5 times. Take the 15 seconds to go out and take a picture of it!!
Please do not confuse idle conversation with technical advise

Generally when replying to my own question - I am generally providing more details on my discovery of what I find, esp. if there has been a reply to my post. I am grateful for any replies that come my way and do not ignore the replies, I do generally try replying back in any topic I can.

Check the vacuum lines going to the cruise control unit. It should be located on top of the intake with a link attached to the throttle.

Hi,

does the cruise control work solely on the vacuum provided by the ac or a different source?

Thanks

OK, but what was the problem? It's helpful to post the solution you found, someone else may need to know.

I know this is an old post, but the cruise control in my van doesn't work if I drop the steering wheel from the standard position. Wasn't a big deal, but odd..
