Seat conversions???

Seat conversions???

Postby djremix [OP] » March 2nd 2015, 10:34pm

Has anyone done seat conversions? I just purchased a 2002 Astro cargo and the seats are very basic, filthy and ripped. I want to ditch those and find something the would be more comfy and look better.

I realize that modifications would be necessary but it's in my league, just want to see and know which seats you guys used.

Pictures would be awesome.... Thanks

Find a conversion van (any make/model) in the junkyard. Grab any bucket/captains chair out of there that's in good condition. Leather, cloth, etc. You might also find a good set on craigslist. Great thing about these vans is you can take just about any seat from any vehicle and mount it in.

I'm still running my original conversion van seats, but once I get around to the interior (still working on mechanical upgrades) I'll find a nice set of captains chairs with dual armrests, and have them in all three rows.

If you're looking for new seats, check out aftermarket sites like http://www.discountvantruck.com/ and get something custom made for you.

Those leather seats are hard to find around here. I found an astro with a missing leather seat and avoiding buying the van for just that reason. Cloth seats however are a dime a dozen.
How many sensors, fuses or computers does a Bw4472 need? Zero.

Well I made my decision... I found a nice pair of 2007 Nissan Xterra seats. $65 CL find. Not perfect but nothing that cant be cleaned and sewn up in a small spot. Will fit nicely on the stock base with slight modification...

Yeah, I love my dual arm rests mounted to the seat.

If there were two decent armrests built into the door/center console, then I'd take those seats too. Good find, now pics of them mounted...

I think I may know where I can get a pair of full electric leather seats , Originally I was just going to mount them on my regular bases , Now I'm wondering ... how difficult would it be to wire them up to work ?

Thanks in advance

I know this is a stale thread but I was wondering the same thing.

From what I understand, all I need to provide is power to the seats. All switching is done on the seat base.

Someone with intimate knowledge of the subject, please correct me if I'm wrong.

As long as they aren't tied into the computer system should just be fused 12vdc and ground. With an emphasis on FUSED :)
