1995 4x4 conversion

1995 4x4 conversion

Postby AlpineVan [OP] » June 9th 2021, 2:54pm

Good morning y'all.

I haven't been able to find this particular issue mentioned. I plan to call up Journeys later today, but I want to hear from the community, as I know y'all have been doing these swaps long before the kit existed.

I'm in the midst of 4x4 converting my 1995 AWD Safari using the Journey's Offroad kit. In their guide, they talk about connecting a shift indicator sensor to the PCM, this notifies the PCM that the transfer case is in 4-lo and changes the shift points.

On this guide, it tells you where the connector splice takes place on 1996+ vans using an OBD2 PCM. Mine is of course a 1995 using OBD1.

Does anybody know how I do this part of the conversion on my van, so the transmission can still shift properly in 4lo? Or better yet - is my van old enough that I do not even need to do this?

All help is appreciated!
