NP236 from the factory?

NP236 from the factory?

Postby joeg [OP] » July 2nd 2017, 1:19am

I looked up my VIN on https://chevroletforum.com/forum/vindecoder.php and noticed something interesting on the transfer case:

The NP236 is a two-speed transfer case from the S10, isn't it? Is it possible my van has it functioning in "AWD" mode and I just need to wire up the buttons or am I missing something?

If it's even possible, I'll crawl up under there... I assume it would be marked somewhere?

That would be very cool. The 236 has a much longer encoder motor.

Checked my vin and the site said the same about my van. But it also called it a full size cargo van.

I'm going to guess the site is wrong. You have an NP136.

Easy to check; slide underneath and look at the round red tag on the back of the case.

You're probably right... I wasn't even sure if it would be possible to have the NP236 without the controls. I'll take a look tomorrow to confirm. Nothing else on that page was incorrect for mine, so it piqued my curiosity.
