Looking for a diamond in a goats ***

Postby Wokka [OP] » August 5th 2020, 8:39am

you guys got it lucky, I have been running around all the junkers I can find, and the 231c with the 27/32 spline count never made it here in big numbers. I can find them in Jeeps for days, but the spline count is wrong.
I have a line on one that may have come out of a blazer, but I need to identify it. I have asked for pics showing if there are any stamp marks or numbers cast in the case, but what am I looking for specifically?

When I first moved from the east coast to California I actually thought about doing a no rust used auto parts business, not only for Astro/Safari vans but pretty much anything automotive. But that was just a dream. Seems the market is not really that big and even if it was the shipping, cleaning, pulling of parts just did not seem to be worth it for me. As for the item you are looking for there really is not much here for either 4x4 or AWD vehicles at this end of California.

I didn't get lucky either, I bought mine off car-part.com from a salvage yard that listed it as coming out of a 95 Blazer....

As for identifying it by looking at it, I think that if it says 231-C on the tag, and has the splined output shaft for the front driveshaft (as opposed to a yoke), then it's the one you want..... Then to be sure, you could count the splines on the rear output...
