Leaking front axle seals

I have a 99 AWD astro, she is new to me but Astros are not. Recently had the front Axle seals replaced before a long drive from CO to AK. I would have done it myself but I was out of the country. Drove away from the shop and immediately started the long haul north. The seals had a slow leak. Got to AK and replaced the seals myself. Still leaking. WTF! Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Could the aftermarket seals be out of tolerance?

Check the axle stubs for rust, grooves, etc. I clean them up with a Scotchbrite pad and/or sandpaper to remove any imperfections. I apply a bit of grease to the id of the new seal and axle stub as well.

What brand seals did you use? First time I used SKF and then replaced with Timken when I also replaced both axle shafts.

Repeat, make sure the axles are smooth where they meet the seal, use quality seals and put a bit of lube on them when you assemble.
