It's like 15. Just tight, not torqued. Tighten it more than that and you'll crack the case around it. The service manual says to use goo on it, too - I use plumber's thread goo my husband gave me. Permatex white or black, whichever pot I grab.

I use Teflon tape and switch all my drain plugs out to brass plugs and make sure a wrench can be used instead of an extension on a shallow square hole in the plug to be wrung until it can't be removed. ALSO I do my own tightening. Most uneducated ding dongs at dealers will always over tighten every thing they touch from oil drain plugs to lug nuts. Nothing worse than trying to remove lug nuts that are stripped 40 miles from nowhere. Voice of experience here service manager got fired from loco dealership defending his monkeys who stripped the ones on my 1995 3/4 ton chevy pu. AND lost a customer and a few picking up their vehicles listening to my public display of dislike for the ding dongs. More to the story but not enough room here for the things the dealer did to other vehicles.

I use teflon tape made for natural gas line connections. Its the bright yellow stuff. Its quite a bit thicker than the plumbers teflon tape, its more elastic and stays stuck to the threads instead of getting all stringy when you tighten it like the white teflon tape.
