manifold problems

manifold problems

Postby Chevyoli [OP] » October 14th 2014, 3:59pm

Hello, my manifold is on the right side out of order. In Germany but not so easy. Are there differences? would a fit of a '94 2WD Engine code W?

My Astro is an '88 2WD with engine code Z.

Can it be that the hole spacing of the outputs is different or has changed?

Thank you ever

Oliver from Germany

Welcome...

I'm pretty sure the heads are different - ie: one is TBI ( Z ), other is CPI ( W), so I know the Intake Manifold is obviously not compatible.
Unless the bolt patterns are the same - I'd say no. There may be diffs in the ports matching, I dunno'.

Try looking up cross ref to part #'s of both heads and see if the exhaust manifold #s match.
Good Luck

Everything bolts right on. But the wiring and computer programming is different. So without changing that it wont work.

I think you are asking about the exhaust manifold, not the intake...

I believe that the exhaust manifold and associated gasket will fit. Just make sure that

the manifold you get is not warped, or you will need to get it cut. Do yourself a

favor and put new manifold studs in the flange end.

Well, time to rethink MY responses to anything that I am not 100% sure on.
Even if I figure someone w/ more knowledge will surely chime in.

Obviously, I did not know any Gen I year block, head or int/exh manifold would mechanically "match" or "line up".
What wiring and or computer stuff would have to be changed relative to the exhaust? Could it be the O2 sensor system?

So... Chevyoli, I can only hope my unknowledgeable response didn't confuse or cost you anything but a few laughs at MY expense.
