Is the muffler salvagable? Flexpipe is junk, but to each their own!

I would stick whatever you want on it for a muffler first. I put a $20 Cherry Bomb Turbo Muffler on my Van cause it was cheaper then the stock one and not really any louder. Not an exact fit, but easy enough to make it work. 2.5" ID I believe the openings are.

Then in a week when you get paid you can get a replacement tailpipe for less then $30. Got mine at a O'Reillys Auto Parts Store.

I spent about $65 on my exhaust which is no cat, new pipe from Y pipe going to the new turbo muffler with stock replacement tailpipe. Sounds like a V8 at idle. :D

Dump the exhaust out the side behind the rear wheel. If you put it straight out the back, you'll end up with fumes in your van. Ask me how I know this.

Yes, I do. I keep them closed... except that one(and ONLY ONE) time I forgot to close them. Once I get the shocks in I'm going to take it to Big Al's & see what they can do for me.

Samio, in my younger days there were a few times I'd patched up exhaust systems with tin cans, shears, and muffler clamps. It isn't pretty, but it works. It's fun watching the expressions on the state inspectors' faces when they see that kind of stuff.

lol ^^^
@ big i was thinking about running it in front of the passenger rear tire but probably going to try to keep stock looking

how much does aluminum tape cost?

i bought the wrong size flex pipe and meijers won't let me return it because i "used" it i was runnin with just the cat earlier. sounded awesome and my idle was better than with the muffler. then i got to work and realized i can't be a sneaky rent a cop with a loud exhaust. so i crawled under and slid the not so broken part over the pipe and tied the other end to the hanger with leftover wire for my speakers. so i figure next week after i pay my bills and the rest of the money for my camcorder i'll buy a muffler lol.

@bowtie thanks for size :D i bought 2 1/4 and it has the same od as stock >.<

what was funny was beating a 85 cutlass supreme with a chevy 350 on the way to work. he thought he was bad with his flowmasters, at the fourth light and 3rd gear i was about 3 cars ahead of him lol when we stopped he asked what i had and i laughed at him and drove off. i don't understand how i won but it was funny. me and my exhaustlessness

Couple bucks. It's really sticky, so make sure you've got it where you want it. Oh, and clean the surface to which you're going to stick it really well first, of course...

Do you use your side door at all? If you do, you'll suck in a lot of exhaust. Ask me how I know.

Ok so did I tell you the wrong size for piping? I could've sworn it was 3" by the CAT and 2.5" after that.

apparently on mine the outer diameter on the pipe is 2.5 and the inner is 2.25 so i now have 2.5" ID running from the cat to the muffler to the rest of the flex tube. i billy rigged the crap out of it but so far no leaks :D scared the crap out of a mustang on the way home from my granny's i think its funny how some people have fast cars but "accidentally shift into the wrong gear" when trying to race a minivan :D or so he says

People expect a Monte Carlo to be at least somewhat quick. Those who don't know otherwise expect an Astro to have groceries in the back and a soccer mom in the front.
