Postby Born To Run [OP] » September 14th 2018, 1:00am

I have this code PO 454 evaporative emission system pressure sensor intermittent on my 2005 astro 2wd this van has 222,000 miles on it, runs great does not skip a beat.
Any thoughts or suggestions where to start looking ? Known issues, common causes etc.
My scan tool does not elaborate all that well !!

evap? My first inclination is check for vacuum leaks. at 222k. if you have not ever done it, replace all the vacuum lines. They are known to fail and 13 years/222k mi, you would be due. slow leaks in the vacuum system could easily cause intermittent errors with many different parts of the emissions system. Check for broken valves and elbows, (there are several plastic elbows connectors that will age and crack., then there are several solenoids and valves that can cause some strange problems too. Being that the engine runs pretty good, you are probably looking for a very small leak which is why I suggest you just to through the system and replace all the rubber vacuum lines.

Ok will check all vac lines etc.
I did erase code & have used van a few times & it has not returned yet.
Also the air bag light is on, module under seat got wet & rusted, installed a good used one but learned it has to be programmed to vehicle. What is the best method to fix/replace module & get programmed ??

Any evap/emission errors can sometimes be caused by a leaky gas cap as well. Sometimes not getting a tight seal can trigger other evap errors other than a gas cap error. Just some where else to check. As far as the air bag light, that is any shop that has a tech ii or clone to program the airbag..

My guess would be a bad sensor or bad connection/wiring. Because it's not stating that there is a leak detected, it's saying that the signal from the sensor is intermittent.
