what are these codes for? i have a stock 2001 GMC Safari SLE...

PO135 is Bank 1 Sensor 1, O2 sensor to you and me. Heater circuit malfunction.
PO 300 is a random miss on no particular cylinder.
PO 440 and 442 are evaporative emission codes.

PO 135 is the heater circuit on the O2 sensor. Probably needs replaced. How many miles on the one in there.

the 400 guys are vacuum leaks to the evaprative emissions junk. Or a bad valve. Or bad hose running to the tank. It draws vapors out of the gas tank and burns them rather than vent them into the air.

Both problems will cause a misfire. SOOOO hunt them down.

i've got 130k on the van, everything is original.

when i rev the car and hold it at that higher rpm, it can clearly see the missfire...so that is what this is.

what do you mean by heater circuit malfunction...is it the heating system or the 02 sensor? can you elaborate..thx!!

for the 400 code, when you said a bad valve, what does that mean? will the hose be only the one going to the tank or it could be any other smaller vac lines as well?

The heater has a 3 or 4 wires on it, one is signal, one is ground, one is power and the other is power for the heater inside the O2 sensor. If the O2 sensor doesn't heat up fast enough with exhaust heat ( ie. winter temps keeping it cold ) the heater gets it up to operating temps so that it can monitor emissions. If the heater doesn't work, it simply sends a code saying it doesn't work. I've been driving my Toyota PU for 3 years with that code. Your initial gas mileage may suffer some until the engine warms up, but once it's warm, the O2 sensor will work like it's supposed to. Usually the repair is either replacing the sensor, or repairing a burnt wire that touched the exhaust.

Other than that, check your gas cap. Emissions leaks can sometimes be sneaky to fix. Try tightening the gas cap or replacing it first, but likely with the misfires you have a leak somewhere that is leaning out the EVAP system. Sometimes you can find a damaged line, but the fastest way to figure that out is to have a smoke machine hooked up to it and find where it's leaking smoke from.
A temporary fix usually becomes a permanent solution, therefore it does not exist.

i am going to try to find time this weekend to check up on all the suggestions that i have gotten...

but i have a questions, once i fix these issues, how do i reset my codes? in CA, sears was the only one who told me what the codes were, but they are not allowed to reset the computer.

another question, is it a good idea for me to buy an OBII reader? is this any good:

We got a scanner from harbor freight 5 years ago for 80 bucks. Not that one. One we have is not listed anymore. It never gave us any problem. Faithful to a fault.
