28 hours of towing in two days

28 hours of towing in two days

Postby swedishian [OP] » May 3rd 2021, 7:24pm

2005 AWD astro van towed from Birmingham to Denver in two days. Went 55 the whole way 14 hours one day and 14 the next. Had one incidence of the temperature climbing in Kansas on a long uphill in the middle of the heat and wind. Backed off the speed and it went back down. Little bit of tire scrubbing cause my tires are larger. But banged out the fenders a little and no issues. Also it was squatting with all my belongings and tools in it before I even hooked up the trailer. Very proud of the van

I installed a Hayden transmission cooler and did a fresh oil change and trans fluid change before the drive.

According to Google, the distance was 1,338.6 miles.  very nice

I bought my van in January and have been working on it since then, this weekend I took it to San Jose ( A measly 196 miles away) and discovered it still needs a few new parts (speed sensor, new radiator, new O rings for pressure lines, transmission flush, and MAF sensor[running too lean])

How many tools did you pack. I had my 8 drawer rollcab loaded in my 88. Had to use an engine hoist to load it. Ran from MI to FL, to TX, and back to MI with it
That car and dolly sure didn't have much affect on it.
