Will a motorcycle fit in an Astro?

I have a Suzuki S50 and was wondering if it will fit in an Astro / Safari?

Any 1994 or later Astro/Safari will be able to have it loaded in the back. Earlier vans can hold it as well, but it would have to loaded diagonally or with the front wheel sticking between the front seats.

If you have a passenger van you can use the seat mounts in the floor to tie the bike down as you will probably want more than 2 straps on a street bike. I have been hauling dirt bikes in my vans for years and the only problem is you have to compress the front suspension down big time to make it fit. If you have a windsheild on your cuiser bike you will probably need to remove it.

Depending on how often you plan on loading the bike up you might want to look at a trailer. If your one of the kind of guys that tows the bike to a good riding area "sturgis" or something simular and then unloads and rides for a few days. Having a trailer for the bike is great that way you can have the van set up with a air bed and all your camping stuff so after your ride you have a cheap place to spend the night with a really comfy bed.

I loaded a yamaha 600 sport bike, I think I had to fold the mirrors down and remove the windscreen. I only had to do this once, a few years back. It wasn't that big of a deal.

I haul my flattrackers in the LS1 Astro all the time. I push them in backwards so I don't even have to get in the van and only need to tie down the front cause the back is in the middle of the van and bumps don't throw it around.

Be aware that if you have rear-AC, the vents will intrude on the opening a bunch.

I've heard of people hauling sportbikes, but not cruisers. I met a guy once who used to haul is track bike in an 89(?) Astro all the time.

I've hauled a 73 BMW R75, a Vespa scooter, a small dirt bike and a Honda CB250 in mine.
The BMW was snug...

thats a good reply because a cruiser is probably 8 inches or more longer that a 73 bmw. That bike is fairly short especially compared to a modern cruiser.

i haul my yamaha r1 sportbikes to the track all the time. no need to remove the windscreen, just lean a little on the units with rear heat/ac. cargo vans not so much. i have used both so i know they fit.

Whats the difference of '94 and later Van's dimensions to the earlier Vans?

jasen in that case dont tell him there are pockets in the floor that the hooks fit perfect around. also there are 4 so you can get all corners. but as you said shhhh

I have hauled a 1975 cb400f all I had to do is take the mirrors off and I also hauled a 1971 cb500 with no mirrors and my van is an 1989 shorty cargo. I just put a board behind the rear of the front seats to hold the front tire back and I strap from the drivers and passengers seat bases to the handlebars. Make sure you compress the forks good and you have nothing to worry about.

Old topic but one close to me. Looking for another Astro van for transporting my race bikes to different races. I race enduros and usually camp so I prefer a van over my pickup.
But when I roadraced I used a shorty Astro with no problems. I could squeeze my TZ250 and ZX7 into an Astro with all of my gear and tools. It was crammed but worked. Much easier with only one bike.
With dirtbikes you need to compress the front suspension before putting it in, but they fit with no problems.
