They made the shorty from 87 to 93 I believe possibly 94 but no 95's were shorties. Where are you located and how far are you willing to travel? Just asking cause I see them every once in a while here in NorCal. Mark

Shorty's RULE!!!
Especially ones that are raked, with fat tires and a V8!

Side note: I DO recommend getting the "latest" Gen 1 you can find! There were numerous significant improvements over the years with interior and dash, improvements with the engine accessories layout and issues with brackets, and much stronger improvements with the later model 700R4 transmissions. Probably about 90-up.

(I may not have included everything)

Happy hunting!

You pretty much nailed it... on the first part of the years desired...
1988 has most of the good improvements in the 700R4 transmission... and the tbi fuel injection.
On most days, I still like mine. 101 k miles, and going strong ! ;)

Made me take a second look too. But I have a shortie already...

85-94 is the time span for the shorties, 85-89 all were shorties, EXT came in '90. What do you want to do to it? Earlier ones had a manual transmission option, third pedal could bolt in. All should have the fiberglass leaf springs. 88 or 89 went to electronic vs mechanical speedometer. 93+ have electronically controlled transmission. 94-95 had a traditional analog speedometer vs the earlier hockey stick gauges. Digital dashes available in the 90's. 90 or 91 started AWD.

Lots of options.
