GU6 (3.42) G80 diff, underseat storage, Popout Windows

Postby joeg [OP] » July 3rd 2017, 5:39pm

Looking for a GU6 differential (3.42, 7.6", 28 spline) for a 2004 in good condition, those two under-the-front-seat storage drawers, and the pop-out windows for a Cargo van (2 rear, 1 side) with latches/weatherstripping.

I'm located in SoCal. Make me an offer and let's see if we can work something out.

Check ebay for the G80, thats where I got mine. It was checked, cleaned, rebuilt and basically a brand new unit.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for that?

Also, since you've done the swap, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the easiest way. Is it to just swap the whole axle? or just the diff? or to open it and swap the internals (I'm guessing thats the hardest)?

It was $200 shipped, like I said tho it was basically a brand new unit after they were done with it.

I didn't do the work, I dropped it off at a shop and they went through the whole rear end and renewed everything and installed the G80, that cost $475 out the door. I also had them install new axles that I provided, those cost $175 for the pair, another ebay find. so I have $850 in the rear end and everything is new in it.

To install the G80 you'll have to take apart your rear end, remove all the guts and then install/reshim everything back into spec, it was way over my head, thats why I had a specialist do it.
I don't regret any of it....I love my G80!! lol!

wow, that sounds great. Do you have the username or a link to the seller? I'm guessing they probably sell a bunch of them if they're rebuilding them.

Did you change axles or just new OEM ones?

yeah, its way over my head... I'm going to have a shop do it.

I really don't remember who it was, just do a search for one on ebay, there are a lot of them on there that are fully rebuilt.

The axles were brand new, I got them on ebay and got a really good deal on them. They were new old stock and the seller was just trying to move them.
