Postby Rockridge [OP] » February 17th 2021, 7:56pm

Looking for a 03-05 complete axle. 3.42 gearing my van has same size u joints. wanting the G80 option. Can't find anything locally, only one on ebay and they won't provide photos. If anyone knows of something at their local yard please let me know. Everything up here in NH is rusted out. S

Fixed that, thanks Will.

Might have found one... fingers crossed..

If it isn't too cold tomorrow I might start taking my van apart.

Thanks, it's 1000 miles away so I probably won't see it for at least a week, unfortunately. This is probably the time to do my transfer case swap? UGH, I need a heated garage with a lift!

Working outside, in the cold? I would rather be comfortable and would do the least amount possible outside, wait to do the TC swap until it's warmer. I have access to lifts so it hasn't been a super high priority for me, but I would love to have one at home.

Man that is a long way away. What is that going to cost to ship?

I suppose that makes sense. My driveway is no joke. The propane delivery guys told it they consider it a right of passage for the new guys, and they reverse up it. It's skiable. Somehow my van has been getting up it, even with a few inches of snow with just 1 wheel drive. I really like my snow tires, and this is season #2 on them. With spring around the corner, I can live with the lack of 4 wheel drive for a bit longer. Worst case, I do a short hike.

I have 2 friends with lifts, one isn't too far away. Wonder if its empty? I could AAA it there...

Cost? I don't want to talk about it

Update: just scored access to a non-heated garage with a lift. Only 10 miles away too! So that's some good news

I also have the entire 3rd member 3.42 sitting in a bucket of oil. This unit is an open one, but you could put a locker in it. It came out of a 99. On my shelf I have 5 lug axels that belonged to that unit. I don’t know if a six lug axel is interchangeable or not. Plus I don’t have a six lug nothing. I keep this stuff because it’s getting harder to find rear ends for our vehicles. Let me know if I can help.

Super. Glad you found what you wanted. Can I be so bold as to ask the price? Looks like add bump stops and bolt in ready.

550 shipped.

I had another lined up before I found this. They were asking 1200. They could not seem to get the axle shipped after 4 days so I cancelled. Glad I found a cheaper one!

Yeah, it looks really good, probably can save the rotors and calipers for later, add bump stops, maybe change my u joints as mine are original with 140k on them.

Looks like they took it out nicely too. Disconnected e-brake instead of just cutting the cable....

These guys were very helpful, sent a bunch of pictures, called me with info etc.

That is full rebuilt territory. I'm glad they didn't ship and you found a cheaper one, $550 delivered to your door is not bad at all! :obscene-drinkingcheers:

If you haven't already got it put in. Could I bother you for some measurements off that axle?
My junk yard escapades have been severly limited.

Axle flange offset: Measure from housing outer seal to disc mounting surface
Flaunge hub height: The pilot hub the disc slides over
Disc Hat thickness: Thickness from flange mounting surface to wheel mounting surface
Disc to Leaf spring: Inner face will work here

And from the van
Leaf spring to leaf spring. Either inside to inside or outside to outside. Just note which.
