I am looking for an aftermarket smooth cowl (the piece between windshield and hood) that will fit a 1985 Astro or Safari. Mike

Any luck yet?
I guess these are available after-market somewhere?... or, ya ever play with fiberglass?
I used to lay up Kayaks. I'm thinking some filler and a top layer of thin mat n resin.
Sand and paint. Customize to suit.

no luck, pretty sure they were produced a while back.
I may have to fiberglass one. I do not have wipers or antenna, would have had to redo the aftermarket one any way.
There was a post awhile back by a couple members who fiberglassed theirs,

could not find or persuade persons who had one to sell. they do not make them anymore. so i literally took matters into my own hands! i glassed mine in using matte as stated above. after i applied the first layer of matte i let cure then flipped it over and used more resin to fill in the wiper holes and fins for added strength. no pics as of yet and it is not finished. i plan on redrilling only 4 holes to remount using stainless screws. i have no wipers or antennae either, thank god for rain-x and hidden antennaes. its a show van anyways, good luck!!

My Astro is being built for show. Rainx works pretty good if caught in the rain. Actually now that I have removed the heater box, I cant turn on the blower to keep the windshield from fogging up, bigger problem than rain. Since my Astro is pro streeted, it doesn't leave the garage in bad rather, but I have been caught in the rain a few times.

I guess I will have to fiberglass a cowl.

Rain-X makes a anti-fog cloth that is applied to onside of windshield, maybe applying rain x on a cloth then to windshield would help :)
