Aftermarket auto safety devices

Postby plainolebill [OP] » July 9th 2020, 9:17pm

Has anyone installed any of this stuff, lane departure, collision avoidance, etc? We have it on our Outback and its helpful for an old coot like me (77). Thanks, Bill

I have not seen an aftermarket product for any of these items. But I don't get out much.
Seems they would be out there - but terribly expensive.

Probably just a G00gle away...

Well, after all... what would Banacek say ?... “May be hard to believe... President Trump should rest easy and concede what was in fact a foregone conclusion: Another OLD MAN won with only about 50% of the Change Believers/Fools showing up."

While there are "preemptive" braking systems and lane departure "control" systems available on the aftermarket that can be retrofitted, It's probably more expensive than your vehicle is worth.
If you are talking about the warning systems, I have the Garmin dash cam which has lane departure warning, Collision warnings, etc.. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/567313

It's nice to have. When you spend lots of time long haul driving, If I get a warning, maybe it's time to pull over and take a break. I'm very happy with it. Thinking about putting one in my Dad's car. I worry about him driving alone.
