I think my 1600 watt system sounds damn good despite being in a metal can. I have 1/2 solid partition so my 6x9's are on the floor right behind the front seat's, 6.5's in the door and tweets opposite the mirrors, so I am kind of in the sound bubble so to speak. The woofers in the back, but it don't care, it likes being back there.

Putting new speakers into the doors front and rear did wonders for for the quality of sound coupled with a 12" Mtx sub and 1000 watt Mtx amp, sounds nice and full. Unfortunately the pillars will have to wait

Well I have components a/d/s 325is in the front doors 346 components in the rear doors jbl 4x6 in the rear pillers a 12 inch shallow pioneer in a custom box where the rear jack would go..powered by an Alpine pdx 1000.1 and a alpine pdx 5 for the other speakers....like I said it is okay sound but not like a car which would give much more richer sound..I do sorta like the idea of maybe putting 6x9 in boxes and mount them behind the drivers and passenger seat (think wood would help)
Just the location of the speakers in the gen 2 seem bad the speakers are mounted to low and the tweeter are too high IMHO

it is a big volume to fill the rich full sound. It took some thinking to figure out what to do w/o putting 20 speakers in.
I'm running an upper mid range kenwood HU, kenwood 600x 4 amp for the front, kenwood 1000xmono D for the sub. 6.5 soundstream rubicons components in the doors, soundstream granite pro 6x9s behind the front seat's (bought these in 1995 and they still bring it) 12" kicker comp in a 1.25 cu.ft. sealed down fire box in the back.
I bought the best/heaviest angled truck box's like these Imagefor the 6x9's because they gave me a lot of aiming options, i flipped them every which way. facing the speakers up and angled towards each other worked great. it reduced the sound reflection off the b pillar and doors and aimed the other side at me. the sound is nicely balanced and has good stereo separation. pink floyd, led zeppline will get your head waving around following the music's play of the stereo separation.

this pic is from the drivers seat, the b pillar/ seat belt is on the left, passenger seat at the bottom.

even with the tweet's here i had

hope this helps to give you some idea's :)
