DVD PLayers?

DVD PLayers?

Postby dacosta [OP] » July 30th 2009, 1:37am

I am new to this so forgive me if this is a dead horse subject. Has anybody had luck putting dvds in the headrests of the factory front seats (in a 99)? If so I would love to see/hear about it. Thanks Dan

My '99 has no headrests, they're highback buckets. Even with these, it's do-able, I've done highback seats in Expeditions , etc. Sorry, no pics though, it was before I realized I should keep a portfolio. Are you looking to put just monitors, or all in one headrest type units? Plain LCD's are simple,an all in one requires a bit more work, as they eject from the top, and a highback is typically leaning back, so the viewing angle from the center row would be off, unless you compensate by shimming the bottom of the unit out,and foam it in so it doesn't just look like a tumor. Why not just pop in an overhead unit?

I am not really sure what I am lookig for yet, but I have a second baby coming and would like to get some videos going back there for some planned road trips. I suppose, the head unit and rear screen is a good idea, I will need to figure a "clean" way to mount it to the overhead console - or other location. Thanks Dan

if you mount it right behind the overhead console it would be clean. make sure u get a desent size screen tho. i would reccommend something around 10" or bigger. something that will be good to veiw.

I agree with S&S. a 10" is a decent size screen, these vans have enough room for a 15" to go in without making the kids crosseyed,I had one in mine right behind the o/h console and it was perfect. If you don't want to swing for the flip out in front, a simple separate dvd player linked to a rear overhead is an economical way to go.
