Came here looking for cut and dry answers

Postby 1998kingbong [OP] » October 23rd 2014, 8:55pm

Been out of the audio system scene for over 20 years. I was hoping someone was going to post something real simple I could just order and install. I remember now how everyone has different needs.

Our people still using radios, or has it gone to tablets? I do not own any cd's. I want 4-6 speakers and a amp. Probably do without a sub woofer. I can cut metal and I have a cargo van that I use for work. Mostly listen to the radio. But could do without. Any suggestions. I could drop 5-6 hundred on materials

Your people might still be using radios, Kimosabbe. Our people use live jazz combo in back of van along with many American stripper girls named Amber.

Cut and dry the way you like it. Nothing made fits or vans without some HillBilly Engineering. All kinds of radios cheap like you want tho.

Yikes.

I put in a factory cassette deck and bought an aux box (iSimple, I think) to plug into the CD port on the back. Lets me plug in my iPod or Sirius with no muss or fuss and no fudging required.

A couple guys on here opened up their factory receiver and wired in an aux port; thread is still in this subforum if you search.

My work truck has a low budget Pioneer. I went to wally world and picked up a kit around christmas some years back. Single din, 50 w x 4, AM, FM, CD, and the flash drive aux in front, 2, 6.5" 2 way speakers, 2, 6 x 9" for less than $100. I think I got the harness plug for it there as well for about 10 bux.
Cheap n' easy and it sounded good till it was hit w/ a 2x4"
