Came here looking for cut and dry answers

Been out of the audio system scene for over 20 years. I was hoping someone was going to post something real simple I could just order and install. I remember now how everyone has different needs.

Our people still using radios, or has it gone to tablets? I do not own any cd's. I want 4-6 speakers and a amp. Probably do without a sub woofer. I can cut metal and I have a cargo van that I use for work. Mostly listen to the radio. But could do without. Any suggestions. I could drop 5-6 hundred on materials

Yikes.

I put in a factory cassette deck and bought an aux box (iSimple, I think) to plug into the CD port on the back. Lets me plug in my iPod or Sirius with no muss or fuss and no fudging required.

A couple guys on here opened up their factory receiver and wired in an aux port; thread is still in this subforum if you search.

My work truck has a low budget Pioneer. I went to wally world and picked up a kit around christmas some years back. Single din, 50 w x 4, AM, FM, CD, and the flash drive aux in front, 2, 6.5" 2 way speakers, 2, 6 x 9" for less than $100. I think I got the harness plug for it there as well for about 10 bux.
Cheap n' easy and it sounded good till it was hit w/ a 2x4"

The 2x4 is a big fear for me. My van is loaded with all sorts of instruments of destruction

Yeah, that was a costly 2x but for $65 I swapped the head unit w/ another cheapie and was good to go.
