Radio Gremlins

Having some OE radio problems: Intermittently it sounds like a helicopter in the front right speaker channel with engine on or off (no other accessories activated) key in acc or run. I have plenty of Delco radios, but none with the right harness connector match up. Wondering if anybody knows if there might be adapters available for early to later delco radio harness that would get me out of the soup for a radio swap? Truck has a 19 wire harness, with small antennae connection, all my other radios have a 12 wire harness connector with a large antennae connection.

This sounds a bit odd but the helicopter sound makes me think it's GSM (cel phone) interference. Is there a cel phone near it when it happens?

Yes, there are Nextel handsets which we have used for longer than we have owned this truck. The noise came on very suddenly, and has only manifested the one channel.
However, the other day, when I was showing my nephew what was going on, I was doing other maintenance under the truck, so I had left my phone inside the house. The strange thing is,two days ago, I removed the radio, took it into the shop to give it a good blowing out, reinstalled and checked: no helicopter, but I had my phone in my pocket.
Further investigation, when I had the radio out showed a lot of rust on the top of the case. Perhaps a water leak toasted the darned thing, after all, it is a '93. Next thought is
I'm ready to consider getting Father Damien, if you think an exorcism might help!
