ac pulley making noise

ac pulley making noise

Postby paintdrying [OP] » November 7th 2011, 2:54pm

So the ac pulley is making noise. I took some brake cleaner to it and the noise stops for about 5 seconds. Does the pulley in the picture have a replaceable bearing. I am thinking I can go to the salvage yard and just buy that triangle bracket (the one in the picture) and swap them out. Also does anyone know the part numbers or where to get the delete pulley and belt?

Oh, as I look at my compressor I realize someone already put one of those by passes on there already. I am going to try and just replace the bearing. The thing looks brand new. That China stuff just does not last.

The bearing should be pretty standard and easy to get. Try the yellow pages under "bearings". That is how I found a supplier when I needed a specific bearing.

Of course there is always a possibility that the LAPS will be able to supply one, but I would say it is a long shot.

Good hunting

You might check where that $20 bearing was shipped from. Most of the brgs available from LAPS are cHINESE or kOREAN. If it was made in US, maybe you got a good deal.

I would have guessed $10 at the most.

I called around today. Everyone just sells the whole by pass assembly for 40 dollars. I will try and just knock the bearing out and buy one at the bearing store.
