???? Rear AC is cold front ac is cool ????

:screaming: :screaming: :screaming:
I have finally made an account on this forum because I am completely stumped. let me know what you think it is, please.
I just replace the ac compressor and condenser tank loaded the system with juice and now the back AC works amazing however the front is blowing weak AC I thought it might have had to much juice in so I drained some out still not working. I have been all over Youtube and on this forum and can't find anything I really don't want to talk it to an AC tec because I want to get it on my own.

"Guessing" at the refrigerant level is not a proper way to fill your system.
It is installed by specific weight (see specs).
Too much or too little will yield poor results.
Gauges give you an indication of what is REALLY going on as well... but these are "relative" readings.

Air in the system can cause issues too... which is part of the reason the system is vacuumed before filling.

Poor air-flow across condenser coil will cause high pressure, and poor results.
This usually happens with an inadequate fan, or no shroud, whereas highway results are better.

If rear is cold, and front is not.. then you may have one of several possible issues...
* Blend door not working correctly, not recirculating inside air.
* Possible vacuum leak which affects air-routing controller
* Heater valve may not be functioning correctly... allowing heat to mix with cold.
* Evaporator coil dirty or partial blockage, reducing efficiency.

Typically front and rear A/C should be similar.

It's also best to use a laser thermometer to measure input temps vs output temps, since output is directly related to a temperature drop compared to input temps (Delta-T). In other words, it takes time to drop the inside cabin temp. If it's 100 degrees and you have (for example) a 30 degree (delta-t) drop, you will initially only see 70 coming out vents. If temp (input) comes down to 80 degrees, then you would have (with same 30 degree delta-t) about 50 degrees coming out vent. Much colder.
100 in = 70 out
90 in = 60 out
80 in = 50 out
70 in = 40 out
This is just an example.. your results may vary.
A/C vent temperatures also depend on fan speed.. slower is typically colder.

There are numerous things that make A/C work great.
Here in South Florida we take A/C seriously!
Pros get good money for their experience.
But with the right tools and a little knowledge, you should be able to tackle this.

Welcome to the site.

If the rear is cold and the front cool, your blend door probably isn't moving correctly and blocking off the heat. There is only one compressor; it feeds both front and rear.

Refrigerant charge is critical, you should drain it down and start over.My experience in my 96 is when a/c front and rear are on high, and I am going less than highway speeds, the front suffers and is warmer. If front is cold, when rear is off,you may not have a problem. But if you think you do,then replace the orifice, which you should have done when replacing the compressor.

hopefully this will add to the thread and not detract. I'm in the decision making process with mine w/o rear. shopping for compressor kits, I see the orifice is usually included. i'm not experienced enough to have been aware it should be replaced with the compressor, without research.

my question is, specific to our vehicles, when the compressor merely got old, leaked down, and stopped engaging due to no pressure, what are the chances the condenser is still good to go?

I used to be a "morning person".... *sigh*... again.

Well, after all... what would Banacek say ?... “May be hard to believe... President Trump should rest easy and concede what was in fact a foregone conclusion: Another OLD MAN won with only about 50% of the Change Believers/Fools showing up."
