Intermittent fan or ac

The last two times we have gone camping we have noticed that our ac/fan air will stop and start at odd times. It doesn't seem to matter whether we are using the a.c. or just plain air with the fan blowing. Could this be a bad fan motor going out? It's getting close to summer time down here in Florida and we are going to need the AC blowing or at least the fan air on us all the time. I've read similar posts but they almost always mention problems with seclection of outlet vents.

I wanted to add something to clearify my posting above. The AC does not work intermittent, or the air coming through the vent. They both seem to stop and start as if the fan is cutting off. I can still feel cool air at the vent but it 's not being blown out. The window defrost to the side windows does continue to come out.

Usually when the fan is dying, it will not start up. If it is cutting out, that sound more like a bad connection, or a melted fan switch.
I'd pull out the switch and connector, and check for a burnt terminal first.

i wanted to add something to my problem that i posted about. When you accelerate the van, under a load such as a lightweight travel trailer maybe going over an overpass the ac defaults to the defrst vents. This is what gave me the idea that the fan motor was going bad. While looking around I did find a loose hose on the accumulator ball. I put this on and the ac would come on and stay on. After a while, again while going up an over pass it would default to the defrost vents but when I leveled out or got over the overpass the ac would go back to the normal vents. This kept occuring the whole drive with the trailer attached. Could the hose that attaches to the accumulator ball , having a collapsed look be part of the problem.

Yes, that can cause that problem. That small diameter tubing is inexpensive. It would pay to replace all of it. It does deteriorate over time.
