how to R&R oil and transmission cooler lines from radiator

Postby rev_les [OP] » June 10th 2010, 5:12am

I didn't take pics, but to summarize the oil cooler and transmission cooler line removal and replacement, take a small curved pick, and a small flat blade screwdriver..
On the oil cooler lines, take the pick, and use it to push the end of the clip enough to get a gap large enough to get the screwdriver under the edge of it near the center. Once you are at this point, put a finger over the clip to keep it from flying astray ( safety glasses might be good to have on for this) Pull the clip with the screwdriver toward your finger, and catch it when it pops off, then pull the oil line out of the hole. Repeat for the other line. The transmission cooler lines use the same procedure, except there's a cover over the clips, just slide it back out of the way. To reinstall, put the clips back in the grooves ( there are 4 slots in the screw in adapter that the lines clip in to) place the line up against it as far as you can, and push it in until it latches. A LIGHT tap with a plastic mallet might assist. I just wanted to post this while it's relatively fresh in my head, (even though I was half asleep doing it) :D
