Time to start looking for burnt parts, starting with the blower motor.

First question is what does the smoke smell like?
Electrical is blower motor.
Steamy anti-freeze smell is a badly leaking heater core.

Then I would go with the blower motor theory. Take it out and smell in then vent hole. Smell matches you got a winner.
