Lowering Springs for us Late-Model guys

Postby FrankenRodz [OP] » April 27th 2010, 11:08am

There seems to be a lot of difficulty lowering the newer model Astro/Safaris, but when I did a search Chassis Tech came right up. 3-4" drop leaf springs for not a lot of money. Anybody use these? Seems like an easy solution to get our rides out of the sky.

Man, That seems like a pretty good deal. But, I think at 3 to 4 inches you would begin to ride on the bump stops. Welcome to the Board. And post some pics of your ride. We like pix. Jim

Thanks for the welcome. Just found them for even less $.

I'll give them a try, and post before/after pics, and give a ride analysis.

If you don't mind me asking, where'd you find them for even less $$ ? I lowered my front and now I need to lower the back to even it back out, otherwise I gotta put fat tires on the back and skinnys on the front, and since I don't have the v-8 conversion, it seems a bit silly

Sorry for the delayed response. The deal fell through on the van, so I just bought a '97 today.

yea im on the hunt for a drop kit for a 2005 rwd. found a belltech kit though work but not 100% will work on a 6 lug van??? the flip kit should be the same as the 02 and older? thinkin about just bagging the front and static drop the rear.

:naughty:
I do not recomend installing the dropped leaf springs , I bought the cheap kit from Ground force came with 2 ' dropped coils , 3" dropped steel rear leafs , the load capacity sucks on the lowered leafs and unlike the flip kit that changes the position of your stock axle leafs with a load or a family trip you will be banging around in the rear with or without the bump stops .
I regret the choice so I bought 2" belltech Spindles I used the 2" dropped Coils as well in front w/o them it was not low enough for me , and I am about to remove the dropped leafs and install a DJM flip kit it has 3 hieght positions and put my stock leafs back on ,, By the way if you are just changing Spindles you do not need to remove your front coils I was amazed at how fast it was only need to disconect calipers upper lower joints and tie rod put new spindle on the same way ..
ALmost Forgot the Rotors but if you are carefull the bearing will stay in there ............

DO NOT Buy THE CHEAP KIT !!!!!!!!!!!!! :naughty:
