allingment after torsion adjusment?

allingment after torsion adjusment?

Postby cowboydan [OP] » July 19th 2010, 2:12pm

if i adjusted my torsion bars, that moves my camber? when i had my wheel allignment done, they only adjusted the steering tierods. as far as i know there is no camber adjustment. the camber seems like it would be set by the steering knuckles (factroy). the control arms only pivot up and down. the balljoints allow turning movement. i'm sure that the shop would tell me that my camber is off but even they would only be able to make adjustments using the screws that i would have already messed with. i just had tires put on my van and i'm convinced that no matter what, i will cook the inside of the tires. have i missed something? i think that to properly lower atleast my van, i would need a camber kit consisting of shims possibly under the wheel bearing assembly or new upper control arm measured for specific drop incriments

The upper control arm has shims behind the mounting point.
Adding or removing shims is the only way that I know of to properly adjust camber on Astro Vans.

If the shop you took it to after your drop via torsion bar adjustment only adjusted the Toe. I would call that a Toe & Go Shop. It could also be that your caster was within specs. Do you have a print out of your before and after readings? If not and it is in fact out of spec, yes you will see an increase in tire wear.

Does your Van stays strait?
Does it leans over to one side?
Do you have Front tire wear?

One of does things require alignment..
